The Help
This book is about a young girl recently out of college trying to become a writer. She wants to write something that has never been done before, which is how blacks feel about working for white family's and raising their children. She is wanting to write this during a really bad time for the whole subject of black rights, so it is very dangerous. The maid she asks named Abilene, is very hesitate to help her write the story, saying no several times before telling Sceeter her story. The beginning really shows how blacks were treated during this time and how the white family's were completely oblivious to what was being done to the African American community.
