Mandatory Military Training

Mandatory Military Training

When I first received my letter from my pin-pal in China, I read that her was in military training. So I asked him how long he was in the training and he would be going into the military after the training. He then responded to me "It lasted for a week. Our training is boring. I have to stand in the sun. We cannot talk and practice marching." I was curious why the training only lasted or a week, so I researched and found out that all freshmen of the right requirements were to attend military training. Once in high school and another as a freshmen in college.
I found a website, called Latimes.com, that explains all about the training, how it makes parents and teachers feel, and a personal story of a girl who went into the training with the belief that the military is scary and changed her mind saying that the training will protect their territory.
Military training was first introduced for students in 1955. There are people asking if the training is relevant or even necessary. During the year 2014 military instructors left 42 people injured in Hunan province, including two adults. Two other reports say a boy had collapsed and died during their regular drills and a girl, after being scolded by her instructor, committed suicide.
I believe that the training would be useful for unexpected or harsh circumstances, but the training is not as useful as it would be and maybe to irrelevant. I think that if America were to be attacked, there would be a great amount of people would not know what to do or how to protect themselves an others. So maybe basic training would be useful everywhere to prepare for violent situations.
